Dorothy's Captivity

The Wicked Witch, seeing the mark on Dorothy's forehead and the silver shoes, decides to make her a slave rather than kill her. Dorothy is forced to work in the kitchen. The Witch tries to harness the Lion, but he refuses and is starved. Dorothy secretly feeds him at night. The Witch covets the silver shoes and tricks Dorothy into losing one by making an invisible iron bar. She steals the shoe. In anger, Dorothy throws a bucket of water at the Witch, who melts away. Dorothy retrieves the shoe and frees the Lion. This event is the turning point: Dorothy inadvertently destroys the Witch and regains her freedom.
