The Lion Becomes King
The travelers cross a swamp and enter a vast, ancient forest. They come upon a gathering of hundreds of animals who are terrified of a giant spider monster that has been eating them. The Lion agrees to fight the monster. He finds it asleep, jumps on its back, and kills it with one blow. The animals bow to him as their King. The Lion promises to return after Dorothy is safe. This event fulfills the Lion's desire for courage and kingship.
