Chapter 1, 12:32 AM
Langdon Summoned to the Louvre
Robert Langdon, a Harvard professor of religious symbology, is awakened in his room at the Hotel Ritz Paris by a phone call. He is told that a visitor insists on seeing him urgently. Despite his reluctance, a police lieutenant arrives and informs him that Jacques Saunière has been murdered and that his expertise is needed. Langdon is shown a Polaroid of Saunière's bizarrely posed corpse and is told that the curator did this to himself. He is then taken to the Louvre to meet Captain Bezu Fache.
