Gandalf Tests the Ring

Gandalf returns to the Shire after years of absence and visits Frodo at Bag End. He reveals his suspicions that Frodo's ring is the One Ring, the Ruling Ring of Sauron. To confirm this, Gandalf throws the ring into the fire, revealing the fiery inscription in the Black Speech. He then tells Frodo the history of the Ring and its dark master, Sauron, and warns him of the danger it poses.
