The Attack at Weathertop

While camping at Weathertop, the hobbits are attacked by five Nazgûl, the Ringwraiths. Frodo, unable to resist the Ring's lure, puts it on and becomes visible to the wraiths. The Witch-king stabs Frodo with a Morgul-knife, wounding him. Aragorn drives the wraiths away with fire, but Frodo is left gravely wounded and begins to fade.
