Frodo and Sam reach the Cracks of Doom inside Mount Doom. Frodo, exhausted and corrupted by the Ring, claims it for himself. Gollum attacks him and bites off his finger, taking the Ring. Gollum, in his triumph, falls into the fire, destroying the Ring and himself. Sauron is defeated.
