Montag kills the Mechanical Hound

After killing Beatty, Montag is attacked by the Mechanical Hound, which has been sent to capture him. The Hound injects a needle into his leg, but Montag manages to destroy it with the flamethrower. He is injured and in pain, but he escapes into the night. The other firemen are unconscious, and Montag is now a fugitive. He limps away from the scene, carrying a few books he had hidden in the garden.
