Discovery of the Secret of Life

After incredible labor and fatigue, Victor discovers the cause of generation and life. He becomes capable of bestowing animation upon lifeless matter. He is initially filled with rapture, but he also feels a profound sense of responsibility and dread. He decides to create a human being, but, daunted by the minuteness of the parts, he resolves to make his creature of gigantic stature.
