early in Victor's time at Ingolstadt
Meeting with M. Krempe
Victor meets M. Krempe, a professor of natural philosophy who ridicules his interest in alchemists like Agrippa and Paracelsus. Krempe tells Victor that he must begin his studies anew and gives him a list of modern scientific books. Victor is put off by Krempe's gruff manner and feels no inclination to follow his advice.
