The Monster's Arrival at the Village

The monster leaves the forest and encounters a village. He is horrified by the violent reaction of the villagers, who attack him with stones and drive him away. He takes refuge in a low hovel attached to a cottage, where he begins to observe a family. This marks the beginning of his long period of secret observation.
