Siddhartha's Departure from the City

Overwhelmed by disgust and despair, Siddhartha leaves his garden and the city in the middle of the night, never to return. He wanders through the forest, feeling that his life is over. He reaches the river where he had once crossed with the ferryman and contemplates suicide, but the sound of Om brings him back to himself.
