Fan Brings Scrooge Home

The scene shifts to another Christmas in Scrooge's boyhood. The room is darker and dirtier, and the young Scrooge is walking up and down despairingly. The door opens, and his little sister, Fan, comes darting in, embracing him and calling him her 'dear, dear brother.' She tells him that their father has become much kinder and that she has come to bring him home for good. They leave the school together, with the schoolmaster glaring at them. The Ghost tells Scrooge that Fan died a woman and had one child: his nephew, Fred. Scrooge seems uneasy at this reminder.
