The day after Christmas, morning
Scrooge Raises Bob Cratchit's Salary
Scrooge is early at the office the next morning, determined to catch Bob Cratchit coming late. Bob arrives eighteen and a half minutes late, and Scrooge pretends to be angry, growling at him. But then he leaps from his stool, gives Bob a dig in the waistcoat, and announces that he is going to raise his salary. Bob is initially terrified, thinking Scrooge has gone mad, but Scrooge claps him on the back and wishes him a merrier Christmas than he has given him for many a year. He promises to assist his struggling family and to discuss his affairs that afternoon over a bowl of smoking bishop.
