Anne Meets Diana

Marilla takes Anne to Orchard Slope to meet Diana Barry. Anne is nervous and hopes Diana will become her 'bosom friend.' The two girls meet in the garden and immediately bond. Anne proposes a solemn vow of eternal friendship, which Diana agrees to. They spend the afternoon together, and Anne returns home ecstatically happy. This marks the beginning of the most important friendship in Anne's life.
