Anne's Apology

Anne remains stubbornly in her room, refusing to apologize. Matthew, sympathizing with her, secretly convinces her to apologize to please him. Anne agrees and delivers a dramatic, over-the-top apology to Mrs. Lynde, kneeling and begging for forgiveness. Mrs. Lynde is won over, and the incident is resolved. Marilla is both relieved and amused, recognizing that Anne has turned her punishment into a performance. This event marks the beginning of Anne's integration into the Avonlea community.
