The Hair Dye Incident
A peddler sells Anne a bottle of hair dye, promising it will turn her red hair a beautiful raven black. Anne, desperate to be rid of her red hair, buys it and applies it. The dye turns her hair a dreadful green. Marilla is forced to cut off Anne's hair, leaving her with a very short, unattractive style. This incident teaches Anne a painful lesson about vanity.
