Edmund Meets the White Witch

The sledge stops, and the lady—the White Witch—questions Edmund. She is initially stern and threatening, but then softens, offering him a warm drink and enchanted Turkish Delight. Edmund greedily eats the magical candy, which makes him crave more. The Witch learns that he has a brother and two sisters and that one sister has already visited Narnia. She extracts a promise from Edmund to bring his siblings to her house, promising to make him a prince and give him endless Turkish Delight. She gives him directions and warns him not to tell the others about her.
