The Witch's Journey with Edmund

The White Witch, with Edmund as her prisoner, sets out on her sledge. She sends Fenris Ulf and other wolves to kill the Beavers and the children, but the fresh snow covers their tracks. Edmund, without a coat, suffers terribly from the cold. The Witch is cruel to him, giving him only stale bread and water. As they travel, the weather begins to change: the snow melts, and signs of spring appear. The sledge becomes stuck in the slush, and the Witch is forced to continue on foot, dragging Edmund with his hands tied.
