The Sacrifice of Aslan

From their hiding place, Susan and Lucy watch as a mob of evil creatures—ogres, werewolves, hags, and others—surround Aslan at the Stone Table. The White Witch mocks him. Aslan offers no resistance. The creatures shave his mane, muzzle him, and tie him to the Stone Table. The Witch then kills him with her stone knife. The girls are devastated, covering their eyes at the final blow. The Witch and her army leave, believing they have won.
