Erik, moved by Christine's tears and her act of kindness, decides to release her and Raoul. He gives Christine a gold ring and tells her to marry Raoul. He also asks her to return after his death to bury him. Christine kisses him on the forehead, and Erik weeps with joy. He then releases Raoul and lets them go.
