Jim Boards the Hispaniola

Jim boards the Hispaniola and finds the deck empty. He discovers the two watchmen, Israel Hands and O'Brien, both wounded and drunk. O'Brien is dead, and Hands is badly injured. Jim takes possession of the ship, strikes the Jolly Roger, and makes a bargain with Hands to help him sail to North Inlet.
