The Stockade Secured
The doctor, squire, captain, and their loyal men—Hunter, Joyce, and Redruth—abandon the ship and take refuge in the stockade, a log-house with a palisade. They bring provisions and arms. They bury the powder and arms that they cannot carry. The mutineers on shore are armed with muskets, and a battle seems imminent.
