The Captain's Song and Dr. Livesey's Confrontation

One evening, the captain, drunk, begins singing 'Fifteen Men on the Dead Man's Chest' and demands silence. Dr. Livesey, visiting Jim's sick father, ignores him and continues his conversation. The captain threatens him with a knife, but Dr. Livesey, a magistrate, calmly warns him that he will hang at the next assizes if he does not behave. The captain backs down, and Dr. Livesey leaves, having established his authority over the old pirate.
