Ben Hanscom's Departure
Ben Hanscom, now a renowned architect, receives a call from Mike Hanlon while at a bar in Hemingford Home, Nebraska. The call triggers a flood of forgotten memories, including his childhood as a lonely, overweight boy in Derry and the bullying he endured from Henry Bowers. Ben drinks heavily, performs a bizarre ritual with lemon juice and whiskey to steel himself, and then drives to the airport. He gives his three silver dollars to the bartender, Ricky Lee, and flies to Chicago, heading back to Derry to fulfill the promise he made as a child.
