Beverly Rogan's Escape

Beverly Rogan, a successful fashion designer, receives a call from Mike Hanlon while in bed with her abusive husband, Tom. The call triggers memories of her childhood in Derry and the promise she made. Tom becomes enraged when he sees her smoking and packing a suitcase. He attacks her with a belt, but Beverly fights back, throwing cosmetics at him and tipping over a vanity table. She grabs the belt and strikes him, then flees the house barefoot. She calls her friend Kay McCall, who helps her. Beverly takes a bus to Milwaukee and then a plane to Boston, heading to Derry to fulfill her promise.
