Eddie Kaspbrak's Broken Arm

Eddie Kaspbrak, after a disturbing conversation with Mr. Keene about his asthma medicine being a placebo, is attacked by Henry Bowers and his gang outside the Costello Avenue Market. Henry breaks Eddie's arm by twisting it behind his back. Eddie is taken to the hospital, where his mother, Sonia, tries to forbid his friends from visiting. The Losers sign his cast, and Eddie's injury strengthens his resolve to fight It. The incident also reveals the truth about Eddie's asthma, which is psychosomatic, and his mother's overprotectiveness.
