Building the Dam in the Barrens

Bill Denbrough, Eddie Kaspbrak, and Ben Hanscom build a dam in the Barrens using boards, rocks, and mud. Ben's engineering skills create a functional cofferdam that backs up the Kenduskeag Stream. The dam attracts the attention of Mr. Nell, a police officer, who forces them to tear it down. The project brings the boys together and solidifies their friendship. Richie Tozier and Stanley Uris join them later, and the group begins to form the Losers' Club. The dam-building is a symbol of their collective power and ingenuity.
