Bill's Ride with Audra
After the battle, Bill takes Audra to Mike's house to care for her. She remains catatonic, unresponsive to the world. Desperate to reach her, Bill decides to take her on a bike ride on Silver, the bike he rode as a child. He pedals furiously down Main Street Hill, heading toward the edge of the collapsed downtown. The speed and danger shock Audra back to consciousness. She grabs Bill and laughs, fully awake and aware. Bill's stutter is gone. The ride symbolizes the triumph of childhood belief and desire over the horrors of the past.
