Bill Denbrough's Departure

Bill Denbrough, a successful horror novelist, receives a call from Mike Hanlon while in England, where he is working on a film. The call triggers a flood of repressed memories, including the murder of his brother, George, and his childhood stutter. Bill's wife, Audra, notices that the scars on his palms have reappeared. Bill explains that he made a promise as a child to return to Derry if the terror ever started again. He tells Audra he must go alone, and she reluctantly agrees. Bill takes the Concorde to New York, then flies to Bangor, feeling Derry rushing toward him like a carnivore.
