Emma and Mr. Knightley marry

After overcoming Mr. Woodhouse's initial reluctance, Emma and Mr. Knightley are married in a quiet ceremony. The wedding is a simple affair, much to Mrs. Elton's disdain. The novel concludes with the happy union of Emma and Mr. Knightley, who will live at Hartfield with Mr. Woodhouse. Harriet marries Robert Martin, and Jane Fairfax is soon to marry Frank Churchill. All the major characters are settled in happy, appropriate matches.
