Frank Churchill's visit is postponed
Mrs. Weston's fears are realized when a letter arrives from Frank Churchill, explaining that he cannot visit Randalls as planned. His aunt, Mrs. Churchill, will not spare him. Mr. Weston is disappointed but quickly recovers his optimism, while Mrs. Weston is more deeply affected. Emma, still recovering from the Mr. Elton affair, is not particularly concerned, though she feigns interest for the Westons' sake.
