After a long delay, the ball at the Crown Inn finally takes place. Frank Churchill is able to attend. The ball is a grand success. Emma dances with Frank, and they are the most admired couple. However, the evening is marred by Mr. Elton's rude refusal to dance with Harriet, who is left sitting alone.
