Mr. Elton offers to take Harriet's portrait to London to have it framed, a task Emma had been worrying about. He insists on performing this service, and Emma, pleased with his gallantry, allows him to do so. She sees this as another sign of his devotion to Harriet. Mr. Elton departs for London, and Emma feels her matchmaking plan is progressing perfectly.
