Jane Becomes a Village Schoolmistress
After recovering, Jane accepts St. John's offer to become the mistress of a village school in Morton. She moves into a small cottage and begins teaching the poor girls of the parish. She finds the work challenging but rewarding. She also meets the beautiful and wealthy Rosamond Oliver, who takes an interest in her. This new life gives Jane independence and purpose, but she still secretly longs for news of Mr. Rochester.
