Rochester Partially Recovers His Sight

After two years of marriage, Mr. Rochester begins to regain the sight in one eye. He and Jane travel to London to consult an oculist, and his vision partially returns. He is able to see his first-born son, who has inherited his own large, black eyes. This recovery is a final blessing, symbolizing the redemption and healing that love has brought to both of them. The novel concludes with a brief account of the fates of the other characters, including St. John Rivers, who dies a missionary in India.
