A week after Oliver's recovery
Mr. Grimwig's Prediction and Oliver's Errand
Mr. Brownlow's eccentric friend, Mr. Grimwig, visits and expresses deep skepticism about Oliver's character, predicting that he will prove to be a bad boy. To test Oliver's honesty, Mr. Brownlow sends him on an errand to return some books and pay a five-pound note to the bookstall keeper. Mr. Grimwig wagers that Oliver will not return, declaring he will 'eat his head' if the boy comes back. Oliver, eager to prove himself, sets off on the errand, unaware that he is walking into a trap set by Fagin and Sikes.
