Oliver Recovers with the Maylies
Under the care of Mrs. Maylie, Rose, and the eccentric but kind Dr. Losberne, Oliver slowly recovers from his wound and the subsequent fever. He tells them his entire history, and they believe him. Dr. Losberne cleverly manages to convince the local constable and the Bow Street officers, Blathers and Duff, that Oliver is an innocent victim, not a criminal. Oliver is finally free from the threat of the law and begins to experience a life of peace, kindness, and genuine affection. This period marks his true rescue and the beginning of his happy life.
