The Supply Dump Idyll

Paul and his friends are assigned to guard a supply dump in a deserted village. They live in luxury, feasting on stolen food and enjoying the comforts of a four-poster bed and armchairs. They roast sucking pigs and cook elaborate meals, even as the village is shelled. The idyll is a brief respite from the horrors of the front, a moment of absurd abundance in the midst of destruction.
