Lanyon's Death and the Sealed Packet
Dr. Lanyon takes to his bed and dies within a fortnight. After the funeral, Mr. Utterson locks himself in his office and opens the envelope Lanyon left him. Inside is another sealed envelope, marked not to be opened until the death or disappearance of Dr. Henry Jekyll. Utterson is deeply disturbed by the recurrence of the word 'disappearance' and the connection to Jekyll, but he respects the instructions and locks the packet in his safe.
