Utterson Visits Dr. Lanyon

Mr. Utterson goes to the home of Dr. Hastie Lanyon in Cavendish Square to inquire about Jekyll and Hyde. Lanyon, an old friend of both Utterson and Jekyll, reveals that he has not seen much of Jekyll in over ten years, as Jekyll has become too fanciful and unscientific for his taste. Lanyon has never heard of Hyde. The visit yields little information, and Utterson returns home troubled, his mind filled with disturbing images of Hyde and his influence over Jekyll.
