Search for Jekyll's Body

Utterson and Poole search the entire laboratory building, including the theatre, closets, and cellar, but find no trace of Henry Jekyll, dead or alive. The by-street door is locked, and the key lies nearby, broken and rusted. They return to the cabinet, where they find a new will naming Utterson as beneficiary, a note from Jekyll, and a large packet sealed in several places.
