Early morning of the fourth day
Return to the Harbor
Santiago sails into the little harbor before dawn. The lights of the Terrace are out. He beaches the skiff, unsteps the mast, and furles the sail. He sees the great tail of the marlin skeleton standing up behind the stern. He shoulders the mast and climbs the road to his shack, falling five times from exhaustion. He lies down on his bed, face down, and falls into a deep sleep.
