The Second Galanos Attack
Two more galanos arrive. Santiago fights them with the short club, hitting them on the head and nose. He manages to drive them away, but they have taken more meat. Half of the marlin is now destroyed. The old man is in great pain and knows he cannot last much longer. He steers toward the glow of Havana, hoping to reach shore before more sharks come.
