124 is spiteful
The house at 124 Bluestone Road is haunted by the spiteful ghost of Sethe's baby daughter, who was killed eighteen years earlier. The ghost's venom drives away Sethe's two sons, Howard and Buglar, and contributes to the death of Baby Suggs, Sethe's mother-in-law. Sethe and her youngest daughter, Denver, are the only ones left to endure the haunting, which manifests as shattered mirrors, handprints in cake, and other disturbances. The ghost's presence isolates the family from the community, as neighbors avoid the house out of fear and disapproval.
