Arrival at Kiamo Ko

Elphaba arrives at Kiamo Ko, the mountain stronghold of the Arjiki tribe and the home of Fiyero's widow, Sarima. She is greeted by Sarima and her five sisters. Elphaba confesses that she feels responsible for Fiyero's death, but Sarima refuses to hear the details. Sarima offers Elphaba and Liir a place to stay in the southeast tower. Elphaba accepts, beginning a long, uneasy residence. She is known as 'Auntie Guest' and is both feared and resented by the sisters. The arrival marks the beginning of her life in the Vinkus, a period of isolation and waiting.
