Elphaba's Disappearance

After the failed audience, Elphaba tells Glinda she is not returning to Crage Hall. She says she will go underground to continue her work, and she kisses Glinda goodbye. Glinda is devastated, but Elphaba disappears into the crowds of the Emerald City. This marks the beginning of Elphaba's life as a fugitive and a revolutionary. She cuts off all contact with her family and friends, dedicating herself to the cause of overthrowing the Wizard. Glinda returns to Shiz alone, forever changed by the experience.
