Dorothy Arrives at Kiamo Ko

Dorothy, accompanied by the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, and the Cowardly Lion, arrives at Kiamo Ko. They have been sent by the Wizard to kill the Wicked Witch of the West. Elphaba, expecting them, uses her magic to attack them, but they are protected by the Scarecrow's straw and the Tin Woodman's metal. Eventually, Elphaba captures Dorothy and takes her to the tower. The confrontation is the climax of the novel, bringing together all the major themes of guilt, forgiveness, and the nature of evil.
