Kidnapping of Sarima's Family

While Elphaba is away visiting Nessarose in Munchkinland, Commander Cherrystone and his soldiers arrive at Kiamo Ko. They forcibly take Sarima, her sisters, and her children, Irji and Nor, away to an unknown location. Only Nanny and Liir are left behind. The kidnapping is a brutal act of political repression, designed to neutralize the Arjiki leadership. When Elphaba returns, she is furious and guilt-ridden. She spends years trying to find them, but all her efforts fail. The event is a profound loss, leaving Elphaba isolated and consumed by a sense of failure.
