Becoming a wizard

Ged is made a wizard and receives his staff, a yew-wood staff shod with bronze. He is given a heavy dark-blue cloak, a gift from the township of Low Torning, where he is to serve as their wizard. The Doorkeeper bids him farewell, opening the back door of the Great House for him. Ged walks down to a ship waiting for him on the bright water. He is now a full wizard, but he is also a hunted man, carrying the burden of the shadow he loosed. His first assignment is to protect a remote township from the threat of dragons.
