Temptation at the Court of the Terrenon

Serret tries to persuade Ged to use the power of the Terrenon stone. She tells him it can tell him the shadow's name and give him mastery over his destiny. She claims the stone has been waiting for him. Ged is tempted, but he remembers Ogion's teachings and the nature of the Old Powers of Earth. He refuses to touch the stone or speak to it. He realizes that he was lured here to become a slave to the stone, and that Serret and Benderesk are its servants. He has almost yielded, but he has not consented, and evil cannot take hold of an unconsenting soul.
